Samantha Colburn is an award-winning performer who grew up in South Dakota and has been on stage since the age of four.  From her beginnings in music and dance it was a very small leap to acting in musical theatre with such starring roles as Maria in The Sound of Music and Rosie in Bye, Bye, Birdie as well as being a top ten finalist at the National Forensic League’s National Speech Tournament.

Samantha went on to receive degrees in acting, music, and journalism from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where she won best actress awards two years in a row and starred in roles such as Janet in The Rocky Horror Show and Gwendolyn in Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest.

Throughout her career she has performed on stages in New York City, Chicago, Orlando, and Minneapolis just to name a few.  Since moving to Los Angeles to pursue her career in film, she has appeared in films such as Cannes Film Festival selection Cessation with the talented Dennis Haysbert and South By Southwest (SXSW) film festival favorite Out of Nowhere.

She made her television debut as Dr. Marta Torrez opposite Hugh Laurie on House, MD and more recently was seen with Kristen Bell and Don Cheadle on Showtime’s House of Lies and on ABC Family’s Jane by Design with Andie MacDowell.  Currently, she is in post-production for three feature films and in pre-production for two additional projects.

Biography

Since moving to Los Angeles to pursue her career in film, Samantha has appeared in a multitude of national commercials and in such films as Cannes Film Festival selection Cessation with the talented Dennis Haysbert and South By Southwest (SXSW) film festival favorite Out of Nowhere.

She made her television debut as Dr. Marta Torrez opposite Hugh Laurie on House M.D. and more recently was seen guest starring on Criminal Minds and NCIS. She has also appeared with Kristen Bell and Don Cheadle on Showtime’s House of Lies, on ABC Family’s Jane by Design with Andie MacDowell and The CW’s Hart of Dixie with Rachel Bilson.

Currently, Samantha can be seen in the films Best Night Ever, Crazy Bitches & Electric Slide. She is also a series regular for season 2 of The CW’s P.E.T. Squad Files and starring in the upcoming feature film The Storyteller.

Recent & Upcoming Projects

Starring in the upcoming family drama The Storyteller. Written by Emmy Award-nominated director Joe Crump and producer Rachel Noll, The Storyteller won second place in the Family Film category for the prestigious “PAGE International Screenplay Awards” out of nearly 9,000 feature length screenplays! The cast also features Constance Towers, Kristina Wagner and Brooklyn Silzer all of General Hospital fame, Cassidy Mack (Zoey to the Max), plus Broadway’s James Snyder (If/Then) and Eden Espinosa (Wicked)!

Comedic Supporting Role in the indie feature film SHIRIN IN LOVE – “a romantic comedy about an absent-minded, yet sophisticated, young Iranian-American woman who lives in ‘Tehrangeles’.”  The film stars Nazanin Boniadi (How I Met Your Mother, Homeland), Riley Smith (90210) and the Oscar nominated Amy Madigan.
